Rubio defends doing business with Betancourt here by pointing out he’s not facing any criminal charges in the US. What he doesn’t mention is that Betancourt was being investigated in the US until he hired Rudy Giuliani to talk to the Justice Department for him. Or that the Justice dept then got Switzerland to drop their probe on Betancourt.
