It's adorable that the EU has dispatched its trade envoys to Beijing to politely inform China that the surplus is now “untenable” and suggest that they perhaps could stop flooding the continent with cheap stuff. This is just a useless Brussels-based consulting firm with flags and all they do is issue letters of concern and commissions studies on the wording of the next letter of concern. In contrast, the Trump administration looked at America's trade imbalance MORE THAN 10 YEARS AGO and slapped China with tariffs and threats, and now the US imports from China has collapsed to one-third of the EU's (adjusted for size). Brussels spent years calling Trump actions crude, protectionist, and “not how adults do diplomacy.” Now they’re in trouble with an "untenable trade imbalance" with China and they're still going to Beijing to plead rather than doing something real.
