It’s remarkable to witness Hamas supporters celebrating what they call a "victory" in Gaza. The reality tells a different story: Israel has dismantled and killed the total majority of Hamas’s command structure, destroyed its military regiments, and taken control of nearly the entire Gaza Strip— just avoiding areas where Israeli hostages might be held to prevent their execution. Gaza urban areas are largely destroyed and dozen of thousands are dead. Hezbollah’s leadership has been obliterated, Lebanon changed, the “axis of resistance” broken, Iran’s defenses weakened, and the regional ripple effects have led to the fall of the Assad regime. Hamas supporters’ celebration is a testament to a worldview that glorifies death and destruction, a movement entrenched in fundamentalism and detached from reality. This does nothing to bring hope or progress to the people of Gaza, nor does it offer any path toward resolving the region’s conflicts. Instead, it further illustrates the justice and necessity of the war against Hamas. A war the Trump Administration is quite clearly saying will continue. The evils of nationalism and zealotry begin with self-deception, escalate to violence, and inevitably lead to self-destruction. If Gaza continues to follow Hamas’s path, its future will grow even darker.
