🇮🇷 A lot of fascinating tidbits from SNSC chief Mohsen Rezaei's interview with state TV on Sunday night on Iran's stategy vis-a-vis the US, the state of play in Hormuz, Iran's oil revenues and more: 🔸Iran's stategy towards the US has fundamentally changed. 🔹Change was needed after Trump withdrew from the MOU. Not only in strategy, but also personnel. 🔸The Strait of Hormuz remains closed, even if 7-8 vessels are still crossing. That's down from 100+ pre-war. 🔹Iran sees the US assisting ships to pass via the southern Hormuz route, by the Omani coast. Iran is targeting them, but only to disable them, not to sink them. Sinking vessels carrying oil in the strait of Hormuz or Mideast Gulf will be an environmental disaster for us. 🔸Iran will announce a new, wider 'prohibited zone' for vessels looking to cross the strait. It will extend from the US blockade line to the other side of the strait. 🔹Vessels entering this zone without coordinating first with Iran will be sanctioned, making future transits more difficult. 🔸Iran may not be able to export new oil from the Gulf, but it continues to get sell oil, and get oil revenues from the vols it sent out of the region while the MOU was still in place (and the blockade lifted). 🔹Iran's attacks on the US navy vessels show the blockade "is vulnerable." 🔸The experience of the MOU showed the US can't be trusted, and that even the mediators cannot give us the guarantees we need. 🔹From now on Iran will not take any actions of its own until the US takes practical steps *FIRST* 🔸The strait of Hormuz "will not reopen" until the US begins delivering on its MOU commitments "in a practical way."
