Bonchie touches on something really important here, and it's been true since way before Musk bought twitter - the horde of toxic people that come at you in the wake of negative attention from a huge account can easily make it not worth your time to deal with.

I'm going to use these two bad-faith posts to give the only response necessary on this. After this, I'm done with the topic. Let me make clear that nothing about my views on broad, long-term tariff regimes has changed. I will continue to post about the issue because that is my genuine position that I feel is backed by very legitimate concerns. So why did I eventually delete that specific post (after deciding to let it ride for 12 hours so everyone could get their shots in)? Because this site is toxic, and I was being inundated by really awful people in a way that I felt put my family at risk. The most immediate way to stop that was to stop the post from continuing to be shared. That may disappoint some of you, but that's how the chips fall for me. I don't post on here because I have delusions of grandeur to change the world. I do it because I generally find it fun and engaging. When it moves past that, my redline kicks in. So call me whatever you want, but that's not changing.
