⚡️ EU ambassadors have failed to agree on extending personal sanctions against Russia Slovakia is demanding that Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman be removed from the sanctions list, while France has backed delisting Usmanov as a possible compromise. Bratislava is also opposing a proposal to extend the sanctions review cycle from six months to one year. The key point: this is not about all EU sanctions on Russia, but about the bloc’s personal sanctions regime targeting specific individuals and entities. Renewing it requires unanimous support from all 27 EU member states. Negotiations are still ongoing ahead of the September 15 deadline.
