It's insidious how Hamas negotiating language has seeped into common usage, distorting clear thinking. "Hostages" refers to living people. Imagine trading for 33 dead bodies—would that be the release of 33 "hostages"? NO. @nytimes, this should read 'up to' 33 hostages.
