Bulls**t Thinking the Kurds should have a state is "identity politics? Or support for taking in Syrian refugees? Identity politics is all about "my truth" and systemic biases. Thinking, "we need to get the hell out of Europe" to avoid the pogroms is not "identity politics". People LOVE to call Israel an "ethno-state," but it was the behavior of the real ethno-states that made Zionism an imperative. Herzl predicted that the Jewish future in Europe would be dark, and history proved him correct. That's not because he yearned for an "ethno state," it's because he knew the ethno-states wanted Jews gone. In fact, Herzl once considered mass conversion to Christianity, but he came to the conclusion that even that would not satisfy the anti-Semites. And what makes this particularly absurd is that the Hamas Charter IS a blatant call for an ethno-state to be ruled under Muslim sharia. As is the oft-repeated call for a global caliphate. October 7th was an atrocity in the pursuit of an ethno-state. Israel was formed by refugees fleeing ethno-states.

Guy, what are you even arguing here? Zionism is morality and facts? Ok? That seems like a reasonable description. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Zionist or an anti Zionist. Is being Jewish not an identity? Is a belief in a Jewish State not identity politics?
