Alexander the Great conquered the region in 332 BCE. He seized Tyre and Gaza, marking the dawn of Hellenistic rule in the Levant. From 301 to 200 BCE, the Ptolemies ruled Palestine from Egypt. Then came the Seleucids, who took over after the Battle of Panium in 198 BCE. Ever heard of the Maccabees? They didn’t revolt against thin air. They were resisting Greek occupation. The Greeks didn’t just conquer. They colonized. They built cities like Scythopolis (Beit She’an), Philadelphia (Amman), Ptolemais (Acre), Antioch, Seleucia, etc. They stamped Greek architecture, language, and urban design across the map. So yes, the Greeks were there. And Palestine was too.
