I don't think she's wrong. There are only two really useful applications for quantum computing that I can think of: breaking cryptosystems and simulating chemistry. The former loses all commercial value once you can do it, though it would of course be interesting to intelligence agencies. The latter is probably something you can do pretty well with machine learning techniques. Equally to the point, actual progress on building quantum computers even capable of breaking cryptosystems is pretty damn slow at the moment. Will it be possible someday? Almost certainly. Is it going to be a billion dollar industry in the next decade? Probably not.
