The Book of Esther couldn’t be clearer that (a) Jews’ enemies prepared a genocide; and (b) Jews fought back and killed 75k of their enemies, preventing the genocide. This is indeed cause for celebration, but antisemites through the ages have distorted the text and claimed it shows that Jews are bloodthirsty. @peterbeinart now takes his place among the Nazis and other vicious antisemites who have used the Purim story to justify violence against Jews.

Good old @guardian, urging Jews to celebrate Purim by reflecting on "the evil that Jews commit" and "the danger we pose" to non-Jews... "With the blood of their foes barely dry, the Jews feast and make merry." Happy Purim! https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/mar/11/jews-gaza-palestine-israel-purim
