#Kazakhstan: The crackdown on the press continues. On Monday, Alexandra Alekhova was sentenced to 3 years in prison & banned from practising journalism due to an article she wrote. The decision is absurd and these attacks on reporters must end. Journalism is not a crime.

#Kazakhstan: On July 31st, @kaztag_kz director Asset Matayev and EiC Amir Kasenov were convicted in a sham trial. Matayev's liberties were restricted, Kasenov got a suspended prison sentence & both were banned from practising journalism. RSF condemns this weaponisation of the justice system and demands the ruling be overturned.
