Aside from lacking nukes, Iran’s core problem is that it’s a revolutionary state turned counter-revolutionary — like the late USSR. That internal contradiction weakens it. Modern Russia, by contrast, is openly counter-revolutionary. It pays the price of having no fixed ideology but gains internal stability from that clarity.
