@random_walker @colin_fraser @emollick LLMs were already useful here. Deep Research makes them much more helpful by directly searching for links rather than relying on out-of-date training data. And since many reasonable answers exist, the model is useful even if it doesn't answer exactly.

Exactly this. The breakthrough of OpenAI’s Deep Learning is not that it is more accurate (though it is) than the fact that it is good at coming up with useful analysis and viewpoints - a very different (and in many ways higher order) form of research to prompt your own thinking
