Today I went out to a Jewish community center here in Los Angeles and spoke to many members of the community. My people are afraid. I wish I could say it's not true and it breaks my heart to see it. I've never in my lifetime seen Jews in America so uncomfortable and so uncertain about the future. I could see the fear and pain in their eyes, a sight that I never imagined I'd see in America. October 7 and the tsunami of antisemitism that has swept America has been extremely traumatic. Even worse is the betrayal of so many communities that Jews considered allies who failed to speak out against and combat rising antisemitism. Jews feel alone and under extreme pressure. I have little faith, based on Kamala Harris' history, that she would be any better than Joe Biden when it comes to supporting Israel and fighting antisemitism. In fact, all evidence indicates that she would be much worse than Biden. Here are some examples: -> She claimed in an interview that the "Israeli people are not their government" even though Israel is a liberal democracy. This is a talking point one uses when referring to dictatorships. -> Her daughter fundraised for UNRWA ***AFTER*** reports emerged that Hamas is deeply entrenched and interwoven inside UNRWA. -> She has expressed support for the pro-Hamas mobs attacking Jews across the country. Moreover, many far-left, anti-Israel groups are rejoicing at the prospect of her candidacy since she is perceived as more hostile to Israel and more receptive to the demands of the far-left flank of the Democratic Party. The Squad's nearly immediate and unanimous endorsement of Harris should concern every Jewish voter. These are very uncertain times for Jewish Americans. I know it is comforting to tell ourselves that Kamala Harris would be good for (or at least neutral to) our community. Sadly, there is no indication that she will be.
