At an event co-hosted by @ColumbiaIGP and @BarnardCollege, Israeli journalist @Nadav_Eyal rebuked pro-Hamas protesters for prolonging the war in Gaza. Eyal’s diagnosis is spot-on. He attributes these groups’ success to Iranian and Qatari backers. The protesters’ messaging has shifted from superficial humanitarian appeals to explicitly violent calls to action. If they actually cared about freeing Palestine, they’d want to depose the authoritarian regimes subjugating Palestinians. If they wanted to reduce civilian casualties in Gaza, they’d support a hostage deal. If they were true feminists, they wouldn’t be regurgitating IRGC propaganda and legitimizing rape. “Pro-Palestine” is a misnomer; these people couldn’t care less about Palestinians. Their movement isn’t just hypocritical; it’s inhumane.

Great event tonight with @Nadav_Eyal @BarnardCollege & @ColumbiaIGP . He explained that most people fail to grasp the full scope of the transformations in the Middle East, particularly since August 2024. The fall of the Assad regime in Syria is akin to the fall of the Berlin Wall. To understand the paradigm shift, one needs to move away from trendy radicalism.
