🚨 For the first time since records began, the UK is no longer classified as an “Open” country in a leading global ranking of freedom of expression. This latest drop continues a pattern of decline since 2014, across indicators including media freedom, internet censorship, academic freedom, freedom of assembly, and the public’s ability to access information and criticise those in power. It now places the UK in a second tier alongside Colombia, Nigeria, Romania, and South Africa. In a country often hailed as the birthplace of Parliamentary democracy, this downgrade carries undeniable symbolic weight. https://thecritic.co.uk/the-uk-is-no-longer-an-open-country-for-free-expression/ FAO: @David_Cameron @theresa_may @BorisJohnson @trussliz @RishiSunak @Keir_Starmer
