It's about honoring our ancestors by stewarding our national inheritance. Failure to do so betrays them, ourselves, and those to come. There's nothing ambiguous about "ourselves and our posterity." The "heritage American" argument is totally vapid. Your lineage is not an accomplishment. You don’t get to take credit for your ancestors’ history and achievements—just as we don’t hold you accountable for their faults. Hard to see how this isn’t just a Republican version of DEI.
