US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz openly confirmed the Donald Trump administration is targeting UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese over her reporting of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, signaling direct political retaliation against UN accountability mechanisms. ￭ Speaking at a Jerusalem Post Annual Conference 2026, Waltz framed the move as policy, stating, “we’re not just tweeting at her we’re sanctioning her and trying and doing everything we can to shut her down.” ￭ He also once again reaffirmed Washington’s backing of policies aimed at defunding UNRWA and withdrawal from UN bodies. ￭ Waltz also defended US policy to “impose costs” on those challenging Israel over war crimes.
