Our plan to cheer on the salmon was derailed by the fact that they can't read

A group of 9 men and women stand in a forest, holding signs meant to encourage salmon. The signs say things like "you're killing it" and "you can do hard things" and "roe salmon roe" and "leap upstream to greatness." These signs would perhaps be more effective if salmon could comprehend the English language.
