Taiwanese men have been found to be blackmailing underage girls into producing pornography which they then sold in a private Telegram group. In total, the group victimized 86 girls aged 9 to 17 from across Taiwan, earning around NT$8 million (US$244,290) in illicit profits. The leader, a 35-year-old man surnamed Pan (潘), began soliciting sexually explicit photos from underaged girls on Instagram in 2021 using fraud and threats. He was sentenced to only 6 years in prison. The pedophiles modeled their child pornography ring after a notorious case in South Korea known as the Nth Room (n번방 사건), of which there were over 100 confirmed victims, including 26 minors.
