Right. AS I have shown in my intellectual history work, these AI companies directly emerged out of the transhumanist, singularitarian, rationalist, and EA-longtermist movements. The goal was (still is) to build an “aligned” digital god to create a cosmic posthuman utopia.

This doesn't make any sense. Pacing the frontier would erode these firms' competitive advantage over open source models.
