Let’s call the media coverage of the pogrom in Amsterdam what it is: racism against Muslims. Allow me to explain. In the aftermath of the Oct. 7 massacre, when Israeli flags were burned and posters of hostages torn down in cities around the world, did crowds of masked Jews run through the streets asking people if they were Muslim, then beating them senseless? When Americans watched young people march through their streets carrying Hamas and Hezbollah flags, burning American flags, did Americans chase those protesters down with knives and beat them unconscious? Of course not. And yet, when Muslims carry out violent attacks on Jews, the media portrays this behavior as inevitable. As if this is to be expected from Arabs. Indeed it is so expected, according to the media, that these violent attacks are often not even reported on. If anyone should be disgusted by the coverage of the Amsterdam attack, like so many other Muslim attacks on Jews in Europe and the U.S. over the last year, it should be Muslims themselves. Barbaric violence shouldn’t be expected from anyone.
