We have this disgusting Islamist ideology teaching little boys that to be the best of men, to reach the highest levels of heaven, you must be a shaheed, you must kill non-Muslims. In Palestine, it’s particularly pervasive – we’ve all seen the videos of kids in kindergarten being taught to kill Jews, decapitating teddy bears with little stars of David as a demonstration. This is where moms can come in. Moms – teach your little boy critical thinking, nuance, how to be man versus how to be a violent thug. Instead of glorifying them and sharing candies when they kill and are “martyred”, celebrate their educational accomplishments, their entrepreneurial flair, their artistic endeavors. Love your children enough to ignore those passages in your religious text, to excise those insane edicts from your worldview. Let love, not hate, guide you.
