I don’t believe Islam as a religion can be reformed. But I do believe that Muslims can choose to practice their faith in a way that aligns with human rights, democracy, and modern values—just like most Jews and Christians do today. The problem is that “reformers” are hated—not just by Islamic extremists, but by so-called “progressives” in the West who laughably silence any critique in the name of tolerance. Reform-minded Muslims face the same threats as ex-Muslims like me. They’re branded as heretics, attacked and thrown to the wolves. And yet, they exist. Brave leaders like Dr. Zudhi Jasser, Rahil Raza, and Soraya Deen are threatened, ostracized, demonized for daring to say what needs to be said. But they refuse to be silenced. I co-founded Clarity Coalition (@CLARITyCoaltion) to support them in their fight to create a future where a moderate Islam can exist, even thrive. @DrZuhdiJasser @SoooMD
