Four women. Four completely different paths through Krynn. Goldmoon. Tika Waylan. Kitiara Uth Matar, with Skie looming behind her. Laurana, the Golden General. And somehow Larry Elmore gets all of that personality into a single painting. Goldmoon looks almost serene. Tika looks like she’s ready to actually get something done. Kitiara looks like she could conquer half of Ansalon before lunch. And Laurana has her arms crossed like she has already heard Kitiara’s bullshit and would very much like to move things along. 😂 That’s what I love about Elmore’s Dragonlance work. These aren’t just four beautiful fantasy characters standing around for a portrait. They feel like people. Four women who loved, fought, suffered, led armies, changed the world…and occasionally made catastrophically bad decisions along the way. With one enormous blue dragon casually standing there like this is a perfectly normal afternoon on Krynn. Larry Elmore’s “The Four Women of Dragonlance” Absolutely magnificent.
