Daniel Edri couldn’t live with what he saw on October 7 and ended his own life. "Mom, I can’t stop smelling the bodies," he told her. Daniel was one of the first to witness the aftermath of the Nova massacre. He saw the slaughter, the mutilated bodies—including those of his childhood friends, Elisaf Ben-Porat and Gabriel Yishai Barel. He saw what Hamas did with his own eyes. And he never recovered. Despite being deployed to Gaza and Lebanon, it was October 7 that broke him. The trauma never let go. Yesterday, Daniel took his life in a forest near his hometown of Safed. He was just 24. Daniel didn’t die on October 7—but October 7 killed him. May his memory be a blessing.
