To the Members of the Pulitzer Prize Board @PulitzerPrizes I am shocked by the Board’s decision to award the 2025 Commentary Prize to Mosab Abu Toha. As @EmilyDamari1 so powerfully wrote, Abu Toha publicly denied her captivity and mocked her suffering during 471 days in Hamas captivity. I vividly remember the reverence and admiration my son, Daniel Pearl, held toward recipients of the Pulitzer Prize among his colleagues. Your decision to honor a propagandist like Abu Toha is an affront to the journalistic values the Prize once stood for. It insults past recipients and has emptied the Prize of its content.
