I don't know anyone who "defends the slaughter of children". I know a few who use this rhetoric to project virtue and silence others, but most of my friends are horrified by the human suffering in Gaza but, instead of reflexingly pointing fingers at Israel, are evaluating effective ways of stopping it, subject to realistic obstacles.
